GHYC will be joining our friends of the Hudson Beach Yacht Club and other yacht clubs for a summer SAILSTICE on June 22d at 3 Rooker Island.  Power and sail boat captains please contact Greg Myers (Fleet Captain) at 727 842 2763 to join the fleet.  Bring your own food, drinks and charcoal.  Games and live entertainment will be provided.  Great Fun!

New Member Applicant:  Introducing Gene Pobst.  Gene is a retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel, born and raised in Dayton, Ohio.  He is a graduate of Ohio State University and an avid golfer.  With your approval, let’s welcome Gene Pobst to our GHYC family.  And, by the way, he is the father of Judi Pobst, GHYC Communication and Public Relations Director.

All hands on deck you sailors.  We need volunteers to help out for the Youth Sailing Camp.

Phil LaRoche is the Chair for this program with Executive support from John Button.  Dan Fritz will provide the generous support of boats and training expertise as he did last year.  The first camp will be held the week of 6/17 (revenue generator).  I will bring my dingy as a chase boat but would like to have one more as a backup.  We need your time both on land and on the water.

A meeting will be held on the club deck on 6/16 10am to go through the plan.

The camp starts on 6/17 at 8am.

If you know anybody else that can assist please talk to them and sign them up.

Also, if you know any kids who would like to learn to sail let us know.

Youth Sailing School – Week of June 17th

This program is open to every youth between 10 and 15 years of age who is interested.

The cost per session is $150.00 per student. Each session is limited to 10 students.

The sail camps for the summer are 8am to 4pm; Monday through Friday. June camp is the 17th to the 21st.  July camp is 15th through 19th.

We will be teaching them basic seamanship, basic sail boat handling, boating safety and good sportsmanship. The boats they will learn on will be stage II Sunfish and JY sailboats.
