The Annual Blessing of the Fleet is held on Palm Sunday at the Gulf Harbors Yacht Club, 3926 Marine Parkway, New Port Richey.

The ceremony is open to the public and all boats may participate.  A special invitation is extended to boat owners in Gulf Harbors Woodlands, Gulf Harbors, and Sea Forest.  Skippers bring their boats to the basin off the Yacht Club and monitor Channel 68 for instructions.

Special dignitaries are invited to speak and Gulf High School Color Guard presenst the colors and the High School band plays the national anthem. Taps is sounded in memory of those who have lost their lives in combat.  The GHYC Commodore begins the ceremonies at 1:00 pm and introduces honored guests.

The Clubhouse is ready for the indoor part of the ceremony.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Pasco County Sheriff Marine Patrol provide leadership for the procession.  Boats  follow the Pasco County Sheriff Marine Patrol boat down the channel then back past the Yacht Club where they receive their Blessing of the Fleet certificate from Reverend Sebastian Earthdath of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and the Commodore of Gulf Harbors Yacht Club.

We even have our own gun salute - it may be only a small cannon but it makes a loud noise!

Following the dockside service, a wreath is cast onto the water in memory of the deceased members in the past year. Anyone who wishes to attend the ceremonies and dedicate the cremains of a loved are welcome to participate is this annual event

Spectators coming by land can view the event from the seawall of the Yacht Club.
